How should plastisol ink be stored and mixed?

Store plastisol ink in a clean, dry area away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and freezing temperatures. Keep the lid closed when the ink is not in use to prevent contamination.

Stir the ink thoroughly before printing to restore a smooth, consistent texture. Avoid mixing different ink series unless the manufacturer confirms they are compatible.Β

What is the difference between low-cure and low-bleed plastisol ink?

Low-cure ink is formulated to cure at a lower temperature, which can help reduce energy use, increase dryer capacity, and protect heat-sensitive garments.

Low-bleed ink is designed to help block dye migration when printing on polyester and other dyed synthetic fabrics. Many polyester inks offer both low-cure and low-bleed properties, but the terms do not mean exactly the same thing.

What temperature does plastisol ink need to cure?

The correct cure temperature depends on the specific ink formula. Traditional plastisol inks often require the entire ink layer to reach approximatelyΒ 320Β°F, while low-cure plastisol inks may cure at temperatures closer toΒ 260Β°F to 290Β°F.

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific ink. Check the actual ink-film temperature with a temperature probe, heat strips, or another reliable testing method rather than relying only on the dryer’s display. Browse ourΒ screen printing dryersΒ andΒ curing accessoriesΒ for production tools.

What is plastisol ink?

Plastisol ink is a popular screen printing ink made from PVC particles suspended in a liquid plasticizer. It does not dry in the screen and must be cured with heat to create a durable printed image.

Plastisol is widely used because it provides strong opacity, consistent color, and reliable performance on many cotton, polyester, and blended garments.

Which emulsion should I use with plastisol ink?

Many pure photopolymer and dual-cure emulsions are suitable for plastisol printing. Your choice should also account for exposure speed, screen room conditions, mesh count, required stencil thickness, and expected print run.
