Can the same DTF powder be used on cotton, polyester, and blended garments?

Many general-purpose DTF powders can be applied to cotton, polyester, and common fabric blends. However, polyester and other dyed synthetic garments may require additional testing because heat can cause dye migration.

For difficult polyester applications, a specialty product such as black DTF transfer powder may help reduce the appearance of dye migration. Always test the complete transfer process before beginning a large production run.

Which DTF powder particle size should I use?

Medium DTF powder is a dependable choice for most print shops because it works well across a wide range of designs and garment types. Fine or specialty powders may be useful when a job requires especially small details, a lighter hand, or additional resistance to dye migration.

What is the difference between fine, medium, and coarse DTF powder?

The primary difference is particle size.

Fine powder can work well for small details and lightweight applications but may be more difficult to manage in some production environments. Coarse powder can provide a heavier adhesive layer but may create a thicker feel. Medium powder offers a balance of coverage, adhesion, detail,
and finished hand for most everyday DTF applications.

That is why we recommend BRSP Peak Medium Transfer Powder for many general-purpose DTF printing workflows.

What does adhesive powder do in the DTF printing process?

DTF adhesive powder helps the printed ink bond securely to the garment. Without the correct powder coverage and curing process, a transfer may have poor adhesion, incomplete edges, cracking, or reduced wash durability.

For the best results, use compatible DTF inkDTF film, and transfer powder as part of a complete DTF printing system.

What is DTF transfer powder?

DTF transfer powder is a heat-activated adhesive used during the direct-to-film printing process. After a design is printed onto DTF film, the powder is applied to the wet ink. Once cured, the powder creates the adhesive layer that bonds the printed design to the garment during heat pressing.

Do I need an automatic powder shaker and dryer?

Yes, an automatic shaker and dryer is strongly recommended for consistent roll-to-roll DTF production. It applies powder, removes excess adhesive, cures the transfer, and helps create a repeatable workflow.
