Mimaki TxF300 Maintenance: How to Replace the Cap Head, Sponge Pad, and Wiper

Regular printer maintenance is one of the best ways to keep your Mimaki TxF300 running smoothly and producing consistent DTF prints. In this Blue Ridge University video, we walk through how to replace three important maintenance parts on the TxF300: the cap head assemblies, sponge pad, and wiper.

These parts help support proper ink flow, cleaning, and overall print reliability. When they become worn, dirty, or damaged, replacing them can help prevent issues with clogged nozzles, poor white ink performance, and inconsistent output.

Watch the full video below to follow along with the step-by-step process.

Parts Needed

Before getting started, make sure you have the correct replacement parts ready:

The video begins by identifying these parts before walking through the full maintenance process step by step.

Step 1: Put the TxF300 Into Maintenance Mode

To safely access the maintenance station area, the printer needs to be placed into maintenance mode.

From the printer home screen:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Scroll to Maintenance
  3. Select Station Maintenance
  4. Choose Carriage Out
  5. Press Enter

This unlocks the carriage and moves it into position so you can safely access the cap heads, sponge pad, and wiper area.

Step 2: Replace the Cap Head Assemblies

Start by locating the existing cap heads inside the maintenance station.

Carefully remove each old cap head assembly by pushing down and slightly sliding the head to the left. The cap heads are spring-loaded, so they should pop up out of the tray once released. It’s a good idea to keep a paper towel nearby to place the old cap heads on after removal.

Before installing the new cap heads, pay close attention to the tube orientation underneath the old cap heads. The new cap heads need to be installed in the same direction.

One important step is transferring the rubber gasket from the old cap head assembly to the new one. This gasket provides stability and cushioning for the spring system, so do not skip this step. Once the gasket is transferred, push down on the new cap head while slightly sliding it forward. The new head should pop up into the tray and stay seated.

After the new cap head is seated, remove the protective plastic cover. Repeat the same process for the second cap head assembly.

Step 3: Replace the Sponge Pad

Next, replace the sponge pad.

Remove the old sponge pad by unclipping the two clips at the front of the pad. Once unclipped, lift and tilt the sponge pad out of the holder. Then insert the new sponge pad into the same position, making sure it clips in securely and sits flat inside the holder.

Step 4: Replace the Wiper

The final part to replace is the wiper.

Using the TxF300 menu, unlock the wiper through the Wiper Replacement setting in the same Station Maintenancemenu used earlier. Once the wiper is unlocked, carefully unclip and remove the old wiper from the assembly.

Install the new wiper by seating it into place and making sure it is fully clipped in and aligned correctly. The correct alignment is with the hook of the wiper pointed to the right. The wiper should sit firmly in position without being loose or twisted.

Step 5: Exit Maintenance Mode

After the cap head assemblies, sponge pad, and wiper are installed, confirm that everything is seated correctly. Then exit maintenance mode and allow the printer to return to its normal position.

Replacing the cap heads, sponge pad, and wiper is a simple but important part of Mimaki TxF300 maintenance. Staying on top of these parts can help reduce downtime, improve print consistency, and keep your printer ready for production.
